Applying your Pretty Driven Co. decal is easy when you take your time and start with a clean surface. Follow the steps below for the smoothest, longest-lasting application.

Before You Start

For best results, apply your decal to a clean, dry, smooth surface such as car glass.

Avoid installing on:

Dirty, dusty, or waxed surfaces

Wet glass

Extremely hot or freezing surfaces

Heavily textured areas

For the easiest application, install your decal in mild weather and out of direct, intense sunlight.

What You’ll Need

Your decal arrives prepared with transfer tape.

You may also want:

Microfiber or lint-free cloth

Rubbing alcohol

Squeegee or plastic card

Painter’s tape for positioning larger decals

Step 1 — Clean the Surface

Wash away any dirt or residue from the area where your decal will be placed.

For the final cleaning, wipe the surface with a small amount of rubbing alcohol and a lint-free cloth.

Allow the area to dry completely.

Avoid using wax, glass treatments, or oily cleaners immediately before installation.

Step 2 — Prepare Your Decal

Lay your decal on a flat surface with the transfer tape facing up.

Use a squeegee or plastic card to firmly rub across the entire design.

This helps make sure every piece of vinyl is properly attached to the transfer tape before you remove the backing.

Step 3 — Position It

Before peeling anything away, hold your decal against the vehicle to decide exactly where you want it.

Take a moment to make sure it is level and positioned correctly.

For larger decals, painter’s tape can help hold the design in place while you line everything up.

Step 4 — Remove the Backing

Slowly peel the backing paper away from the decal.

The vinyl design should remain attached to the clear transfer tape.

If any part of the design stays on the backing paper: lay it back down, rub that area firmly with your squeegee, and try again slowly.

Step 5 — Apply the Decal

Carefully place the transfer tape and decal onto the clean surface.

Start from one side or the center and slowly smooth outward to help prevent bubbles or wrinkles.

Use your squeegee or card to press firmly across the entire decal.

Pay extra attention to:

Small letters

Sparkles

Hearts

Checker details

Thin design elements

Step 6 — Remove the Transfer Tape

Slowly peel the transfer tape away at a low angle, keeping it close to the surface rather than pulling straight outward.

Take your time.

If a piece of vinyl begins lifting with the transfer tape, place the tape back down and press firmly over that section again.

Once the transfer tape is removed, gently press over the finished decal one final time.

After Installation

Give your decal time to fully bond before exposing it to heavy washing.

We recommend waiting approximately 24–48 hours before washing the area or going through a car wash.

For the longest life possible, avoid aggressively scraping or pressure washing directly against the edges of the decal.

Removing Your Decal

Ready for a new look?

Carefully lift one edge of the vinyl and slowly peel it away from the surface.

Gentle warmth from the sun or a hair dryer on a low setting can help soften the adhesive if needed.

Any remaining adhesive residue can usually be removed with an automotive-safe adhesive remover.

A Few Pretty Driven Tips

Install slowly — rushing is the easiest way to create wrinkles.

Clean glass makes a huge difference.

Don’t panic if a tiny detail doesn’t immediately release from the backing. Press it again and peel slowly.
